Opening Day 1998

A simple idea from my husband, Jim, in 1998 to convert a school bus into a little fish & chip eatery has become a 'must stop & eat' seafood restaurant in Hyder, Alaska. With Jim, the fisherman, bringing in the fresh seafood, to Chef Diana's exquisite cooking, "The Bus" offers the very best fresh Alaskan seafood served Alaskan style. Every year the little school bus gets a little bigger and better. Just like the little engine that could!

Diana Simpson & Robin Williams

This 20078 season will be our 10th Anniversary! We offer heated indoor seating behind "The Bus" and we serve Alaskan beer and fine wines during the summer months of June, July, August and September. We can even boast that we've served Robin Williams one of our famous halibut burgers while he was here filming 'Insomnia' in the summer of 2001. Co-star, Hillary Swank enjoyed the smoked salmon samples.
